What surfaces can LED Hardwax Oil be applied to?

Our LED Hardwax Oils are suitable for almost any porous surface including timber, concrete, stone, MDF, plywood, and paneling. The key is that the surface must be clean, dry, and absorbent. Non-porous or sealed surfaces should be fully sanded back before application.

Is it suitable for commercial spaces?

Yes. LED Hardwax Oil and pigments are highly durable and ideal for high-traffic environments such as retail stores, offices, cafes, and hospitality venues. The LED curing process creates a hard, wear-resistant surface instantly, reducing downtime compared to traditional finish

How should I prepare the surface before application?
  • Ensure the surface is clean, dry, and free from dust, grease, or old finishes.
  • Sand porous surfaces evenly, finishing with 120 grit.
  • Remove any dust before coating.
  • Non-porous or previously sealed surfaces must be abraded or sanded back to ensure absorption.
Can I stain the surface before using Oslek Coatings?

The LED Hardwax Oil system does not use “stains” in the traditional sense. Instead, the LED Hardwax Oil itself can be pigmented to achieve colour and colour matching. You can purchase pre-coloured Oslek LED Hardwax Oil in a wide range of shades.

Do I need special equipment to apply LED Hardwax Oil?

Application can be done with standard tools (rollers, trowels, pads, or brushes). Full curing requires our LED curing light, which instantly hardens the surface. Without LED curing, the coating will remain uncured.

How many coats of LED Hardwax Oil do I need?

Most projects require one to two coats, depending on the porosity of the surface and the desired level of protection. A second coat will deepen colour and improve resistance in commercial applications.

How do I maintain surfaces coated with Oslek?

For everyday cleaning and maintenance of timber floors, we recommend using Oslek Wax & Clean. This gentle, pH-balanced product is designed to protect the finish while keeping the surface looking fresh. Avoid harsh detergents or abrasive pads, which can damage the protective layer. For periodic care, we also provide maintenance oils tailored for LED Hardwax finishes.

Is it safe and eco-friendly?

Yes. Oslek Coatings are VOC-free and solvent-free, making them safe for indoor use and compliant with sustainability standards.

Is the LED Hardwax Oil a matte finish?

Yes. LED Hardwax Oil is a matte finish.

Can it be sprayed?

What is the coverage of LED Hardwax Oil?

The coverage of LED Hardwax Oil can be 3x that of traditional hardwax oils. 

  • Hand application: 40-50sqm/L

Depending on the size of your project, we offer both machine coating and hand coating services. Every piece is finished with our LED Hardwax Oil, delivering a durable, instantly cured surface.

  • For flooring retailers, we provide resand and refinish services to give slow-moving stock a new lease of life. We can colour match your boards to one of your fast-selling standard colours, helping you reduce waste and improve stock turnover.
